About Barbara Thomason
Organization Developer of LeaderShift, LLC™
She enjoys co-owning LeaderShift with her husband, Salty. Leadershift is a training, consulting and coaching firm serving small and medium companies.
She has served as the president of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce for over 14 years serving northwest Houston and Harris County. She previously served as the dean of corporate and continuing education at Lone Star College-North Harris. She joined Lone Star College – Montgomery in 1994 developing customized programs for business and industry. Prior to joining the college district, she owned her own franchise business, Gymboree, and worked in training and development for the American General companies.
Barbara holds a BA in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Management specializing in human resource development from Houston Baptist University. In 2009, she earned her Chamber management certification from the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organizational Management and her Professional Community and Economic Developer certification. In 2016, she became certified in the Everything DiSC© programs and in Patrick Lencioni’s Leadership programs, enabling her to administer assessments, coach and train in these valuable formats. In 2017, she passed the grueling steps to achieve the highest Chamber executive certification, the CCE, Certified Chamber Executive.
Barbara has served as president of the Gulf Coast Chamber Executives organization, the president of the Women’s Business Forum and serves on the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives Board.
In 2015, Barbara was named as a Woman of Excellence by the Women’s Business Forum and honored at the Federation of Professional Women’s Banquet. In early 2016, she was honored as the 2016 Distinguished Volunteer by Leadership North Houston. Her passion is leadership development and mentoring others to stretch themselves.
